FOR FOUNDERS AND CEOS
An HR and Operations department for companies under 50.
You'll always know what we did, what it cost, and what it freed you up to do instead.
Our approach
We take it. We fix it. We run it.
You didn't start this company to also run its HR and operations quietly in the background. We do that part.
-
We take it
We look under the hood to find out what's actually broken, not just what's loudest.
-
We fix it
Policies, systems, pay structures, hiring, and the paperwork that survives when someone leaves.
-
We run it
Until your team can carry it, or indefinitely. We do the HR and operations work so it's off your plate.
The engagement model
You set the budget. We deploy the right level against it.
-
01
Set the budget
You tell us what you can spend each month. That's the ceiling, and we work inside it.
-
02
We build the plan
We turn what matters most to you into a plan for what gets done first.
-
03
Work gets done
You're billed fairly for the work that's actually done, not one blended rate for everything.
-
04
You see the report
You get a plain report on where the hours went. No mystery line items, ever.
An example
A 14-person agency sets a $6,000 monthly budget. We tell them plainly what that covers this quarter, and what it doesn't, before any work starts.
Next steps

-
01
Discovery call
Forty-five minutes. No cost. We find out whether this is a fit before either of us spends money.
-
02
Health assessment
Two weeks. You get a plain-language report on what's working and what's not, and a straight recommendation either way.
-
03
Retainer and roadmap
You set the monthly number. We build the plan and tell you exactly what it covers.
-
04
Work starts
Regular check-ins start at ninety days, then every quarter after, so you always know what's working and what's not.
Not sure this is you?
If you're managing the day-to-day rather than setting the vision, the Ops Leaders page might be the better fit.

Book a discovery callHow can I get HR help without hiring a full-time HR director?
Operationary works as an HR and operations department for companies under 50 employees. You get HR administration, HR consulting, operations, recruitment and design from one team, by the hour, against a monthly budget you set.
What does it cost?
Rates run from $50 to $225 an hour depending on the service, and you set the monthly budget. A 14-person agency, for example, might set $6,000 a month, and we tell them plainly what that covers before work starts. You are billed for the work actually done, not one blended rate, and you get a plain report on where the hours went. See the pricing page.
How does that compare with a full-time HR hire?
A full-time HR hire often costs around $95,000 plus benefits. With Operationary you set a monthly number instead. At $5,000 a month, that is $60,000 a year, and it covers several specialties, not one generalist.
What comes off my plate first?
You choose. We size the work against your monthly budget and start with what is costing you the most time or risk.
Do I need to know exactly what I need?
No. We start with a real conversation about where you are right now, and a two-week health assessment shows what is working, what is not, and what to fix first.
Can you handle recruiting and payroll too?
Yes. Recruitment has its own pricing page, and HR administration covers payroll inputs, benefits, onboarding and records.
Do we sign a contract?
Yes. Once you decide to work with us, we send a contract to sign before any work starts, so scope and rates are clear to both sides. The discovery call itself is free and carries no commitment.
How do we get started?
Book a free 45-minute discovery call. We find out whether it is a fit before either of us spends money. If it is, we begin with a two-week health assessment and then build a plan around the monthly budget you set.
