ABOUT OPERATIONARY

Where people, process, and profit move together.

We are an HR and operations department for companies under 50 employees. Most firms sell one pillar. We refuse to look at them separately.

WHY WE EXIST

Founders don't need another vendor. They need someone who's been in the seat.

Most HR and ops firms sell you a framework and disappear. We don't do frameworks for their own sake. We've missed payroll deadlines, made a bad hire under pressure, and watched a good process die because nobody wrote it down. That's the experience behind every recommendation we make.

So the tone stays direct. We'll tell you what's actually broken, not what's comfortable to hear, and we'll drop the jokes the second real money, compliance, or someone's paycheck is on the line. Everywhere else, we're going to be a little fun about it. This job is heavy enough without pretending it isn't.

WHY “OPERATIONARY”

Part operator. Part visionary. All the same job.

The name is a mash-up on purpose. Every founder we work with is already the visionary. What they're missing is the operator, the person (or the systems) that turn the vision into payroll that runs, hires that stick, and margins that make sense. That's the gap we sit in.

The three overlapping hexagons in the mark aren't decoration. They're People, Process, and Profit, the same three pillars that structure everything on this site, deliberately overlapping because none of them moves in isolation.

Our Core Values

What We Live By

These are not posters on a wall. They are not buzzwords. They are how we work, how we lead, and how we show up every single day, for every single client.

Every team member is expected to live these values. Every client interaction should reflect them. Every decision we make should align with them.

01

Human First

People before process. Always.

Relationships are the foundation of everything we do. Before processes, before deliverables, before timelines, there are people. Founders carrying real pressure. Team members navigating real lives. Candidates trusting us with their next chapter.

We lead with empathy, emotional intelligence, and genuine connection with clients, candidates, and each other.

What This Looks Like In Practice

  • We remember names, details, and the things people care about
  • We ask about their lives, not just their projects
  • We celebrate wins genuinely, the business ones and the personal ones
  • We show up during hard moments without needing to be asked
  • We listen more than we talk

What This Does Not Look Like

  • Treating clients like tickets in a queue
  • Rushing through conversations to get to the next thing
  • Hiding behind email when a phone call would mean more

No one should ever feel like a transaction.

At Operationary, people come first, before systems, before checklists, before titles. That is not a soft skill. That is the work.

02

Execute With Excellence

Move fast. Stay sharp.

We operate with urgency, precision, and intention. Our clients are running fast. We move faster. They trust us with the things that keep them up at night, and that trust is earned through follow-through, not promises.

We are not sloppy. We are not reactive. We are not "good enough." We hold ourselves to a higher standard because the businesses we serve depend on it.

We Execute Like Specialists

  • Organized: every project has a clear owner, plan, and next step
  • Proactive: we anticipate problems before they land in inboxes
  • Detail-oriented: nothing slips through the cracks on our watch
  • Reliable: when we commit to something, it gets done
  • High-performing: we raise the bar on our own work, every time

Speed Without Discipline Is Chaos

Speed matters. But disciplined execution matters more. A fast answer that creates a bigger problem is not a win. We move quickly because we have done the work to know what we are doing, not because we are scrambling.

The standard is excellence, even when nobody is watching.

03

Be Radically Responsive

Show up. Follow through. Be reachable.

Responsiveness builds trust. In moments of stress, uncertainty, or urgency, our clients should never wonder where we are or whether we are paying attention. They should feel us with them: present, engaged, and moving.

We do not disappear when things get hard, messy, or urgent. That is precisely when we show up the most.

Our Clients Should Always Know

  • We are here: reachable, available, and easy to find
  • We care: their problem is our problem, not just an item on a list
  • We are moving: something is already in motion, even if the full answer is not ready
  • We are solving: we will not stop until it is resolved or escalated correctly

Communication Is The Service

A quick acknowledgment is sometimes more valuable than a perfect answer. Saying "I'm on it, I'll have an update by end of day" builds more confidence than radio silence followed by a polished response.

Fast communication is part of the service.

Whether it's a quick update, a hard conversation, or a late-night problem, we respond with urgency, professionalism, and calm leadership.

04

Be the Best Part of Their Day

Lead with positivity.

Energy matters. The way we show up shapes how our clients feel, and how they feel shapes how they lead their teams, run their businesses, and make their decisions.

Many of the people we work with are carrying enormous weight. Pressure, payroll, performance, people problems. Our job is not to add to that weight. Our job is to lighten it.

Every Interaction Should Leave People Feeling

  • Supported: like they are not in this alone
  • Encouraged: reminded of what is going right, not just what is wrong
  • Calmer: steadier than they were before the conversation started
  • More confident: in their next move, their team, or themselves
  • Glad they called us, every single time

Even on Hard Days

We bring warmth, optimism, and steady leadership into every room, meeting, and conversation. Even on difficult days, ours or theirs, we show up with professionalism and positive energy. If we cannot, we ask for support or coverage. The client experience must remain consistent.

Our presence should feel like a breath of fresh air, not additional stress.

05

Think Like a Business Owner

Treat the business like it's yours.

We do not think transactionally. We do not think in tickets, tasks, or scope lines. We think like the people whose names are on the door, because that is the kind of partner our clients deserve.

How We Think

  • Long-term: what is the right move for the business in six months, not just today
  • Strategically: how does this decision connect to bigger goals
  • Operationally: how does this actually work day-to-day for the team
  • Proactively: what do we see coming that they may not

How We Show Up

We care about outcomes, not just tasks. If something is broken, we help solve it, even if it is technically outside our lane. If something can improve, we speak up. If a client is struggling, we lean in.

We operate like true partners, not outside consultants checking boxes. Boxes get checked because the work gets done, not because the work is the box.

Because when our clients win, we win.

This Is Who We Are

The Operationary standard, on repeat.

Questions we hear

About Operationary, answered plainly

Who we are, who we work with, and how to reach us.

Book a discovery call
What does Operationary do?

Operationary is an HR and operations department for companies under 50 employees. We provide HR administration, fractional HR consulting, fractional operations consulting, recruitment, graphic design and executive services, so a growing company gets a full team without the cost of full-time hires.

Does Operationary work with companies that have fewer than 50 employees?

Yes. That is who we are built for: companies of roughly 10 to 50 people that have outgrown handling HR and operations on the side.

How much does Operationary charge?

It depends on the service: $50 an hour for HR administration, $75 for graphic design, $185 for fractional HR consulting and for fractional operations consulting, and $225 for executive services. Recruitment is priced separately, starting with a $3,500 setup. You set a monthly budget, and we bill the hours actually worked. See Fractional HR pricing and Recruitment pricing.

Can Operationary replace a full-time HR hire?

Often, yes. A full-time HR hire can cost around $95,000 plus benefits, while a retainer of $5,000 a month is $60,000 a year and covers HR, operations and recruitment support. Whether it fully replaces a hire depends on your workload, and we will tell you plainly on the discovery call.

How do I book a discovery call?

Choose a time on our discovery call booking page. It is free and takes 45 minutes. If you would rather email, write to hello@operationary.com and we will respond within one business day. If it is a fit, we send a contract to sign before any work starts.

Where is Operationary based, and is it a remote company?

Operationary is a fully remote company. Our whole team works remotely, our founder is based in Michigan, and our business address is in Novi, Michigan. You can reach us at hello@operationary.com.

Who is on the Operationary team?

A fractional chief human resources officer who founded the company, plus specialists in operations, payroll and bookkeeping, recruitment, HR consulting and design. You are introduced to the people handling your work, and most clients work with the same one or two people.

Is Operationary the same company as Culture on Camera?

Yes. Culture on Camera is now Operationary, so you may still see the old name in older materials.

Start with a conversation about your actual week.

Forty five minutes. Not a demo, not a proposal. If a bench would not change anything, we will tell you that.
